February 6, 2008: During the early morning hours of February 6, 2008, Harrison County was faced with a severe weather event which produced extremely strong winds, and damaged several properties.
February 11, 2008: At noon on Feb. 11, 2008, the National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning which covered most of north-central Kentucky. Around 6p.m. much of the area was experiencing snow/sleet/freezing rain.
March 7th & 8th, 2008: On March 7, at 4:13a.m., the National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning. Later that afternoon after much debate, the NWS updated the forecast and issued projected total snowfall accumulation to fall in the 6″-10″ range. Harrison County received 2″-8″ of snow, with heavier amounts being north and west of Cynthiana.
April 3rd – 5th, 2008: At 10:59AM on April 3, 2008, the National Weather Service issued a Flood Warning for the Licking River. Forecasts suggested that the river would rise to 21 feet in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 5. The river peaked at 20.11 feet on April 5. Flood stage is 20.00 feet.
